چکیده

The ongoing convergence of grid computing and web services has inspired a number of studies on the use of SOAP-based web services for scientific computing. These studies have exposed several performance problems in using SOAP-based communication; to eliminate these bottlenecks, extensions to the SOAP standard and sophisticated implementation strategies have been proposed. In this paper, we will describe the ASP system, a simulation testbed based on web services for simulating multi-physics, coupled fluid/thermal/mechanical/fracture problems. The system is organized as a collection of geographically-distributed software components in which each component provides a web service, and uses standard SOAP-based web service protocols to interact with other components. There are a number of advantages to organizing a system in this way, which we discuss. We have analyzed the performance of our system for several applications and a number of problem sizes and have found that the overhead for using SOAP-based web services is small and tends to decrease as the problem size increases. Our results suggest that the previously identified potential bottlenecks may not be major issues in practice, and that a standards-compliant implementation like ours can delivery excellent scalable performance even on tightly-coupled problems, provided web services are used judiciously.

Multi Objective Optimization on Insulated Residential Roof with Solar Water Heating System Using Grey Relation Analysis (RESEARCH NOTE)

In this work, a multi-objective optimization on novel insulated roof with solar water heating system at low material cost has been carried out through Taguchi based grey relational analysis technique. The novel roofs have concrete, insulating polyurethane, and a channel of water in a metallic pipe tunneling the chromium block. Chromium block is used to conduct more heat to raise the water to re...

Application of the multi-laminate sub-loading surface model in the simulation of a pipe-jacking operation

In this paper a constitutive model formulated in the framework of multi-laminate models is applied to analyze pipe-jacking processes. The multi-laminate -based models consider various integration planes to formulate the stress-strain relationship. This basic feature of the framework has the advantage that yield criteria, flow and hardening rules are formulated on planes rather than in three-dim...

A Multi-Physics Simulation Model Based on Finite Element Method for the Multi-Layer Switched Reluctance Motor

Using ANSYS finite element (FE) package, a multi-physics simulation model based on finite element method (FEM) is introduced for the multi-layer switched reluctance motor (SRM) in the present paper. The simulation model is created totally in ANSYS parametric design language (APDL) as a parametric model usable for various conventional types of this motor and it is included electromagnetic, therm...

A Novel Adapted Multi-objective Meta-heuristic Algorithm for a Flexible Bi-objective Scheduling Problem Based on Physics Theory

We relax some assumptions of the traditional scheduling problem and suggest an adapted meta-heuristic algorithm to optimize efficient utilization of resources and quick response to demands simultaneously. We intend to bridge the existing gap between theory and real industrial scheduling assumptions (e.g., hot metal rolling industry, chemical and pharmaceutical industries). We adapt and evalua...

Design and Evaluation of a Method for Partitioning and Offloading Web-based Applications in Mobile Systems with Bandwidth Constraints

Computation offloading is known to be among the effective solutions of running heavy applications on smart mobile devices. However, irregular changes of a mobile data rate have direct impacts on code partitioning when offloading is in progress. It is believed that once a rate-adaptive partitioning performed, the replication of such substantial processes due to bandwidth fluctuation can be avoid...
